Designed to prepare students to professionally manicure pedicure and apply artificial nails. Emphasis is placed on spa services and natural nail care. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to take the Washington State Department of Licensing Manicuring Examination and be qualified for positions as manicurists or nail technicians.
Students will participate in realistic training through a student-operated salon after their original basic training, filling the requirement of licensing of 25 percent of services to be performed on live models. The curriculum includes related first aid, sanitation and safety procedures, diseases and disorders of the nails.
This program is offered as full or part-time classes. The full-time program is approximately two quarters in length and the part-time is approximately three quarters in length, depending on the time students need to satisfactorily complete all graduation requirements.
Prerequisites: High School diploma or GED required. Students must receive a “No Record on file” report from the Washington State Patrol, related to crimes against persons prior to state licensure. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding the English language is required.
Admission Dates: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer quarters.
