Your Path to Success Starts Here
The 2024 MEC Summer Launch Program is happening the week of July 8-11, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 am to 3:00pm.
Want to get an early start on your technical college education? Our 4-day Summer Launch Program will link you with school resources to help you best prepare for the upcoming quarter. This program allows you to do a hands-on investigation into your future professional path. While on campus, we match each student with a supportive mentor/coach who will be your advocate as you pursue your intended route. Each participant will receive a free MEC Summer Launch T-shirt, and snacks, beverages, and lunch will be supplied each day. All sessions will take place at Clover Park Technical College's Lakewood location.
This year, we'll focus on hands-on experience in four of our most popular programs: Nursing, Heating and Cooling Systems, Construction Technology, and Welding. We will urge you to consider your college and career preparation, comfort using college navigational tools, identify resources you need to succeed, and map out the next steps you take. If you're looking for interesting and stimulating experiences this Summer, check out our Summer Launch Program and apply today.

Strategic Plan
CPTC's Diversity Factbook indicates that there are persistent equity gaps amongst student of color in the areas of access, retention, and completion. As the College engages the campus community as part of its commitment to work towards the advancement of equitable education outcomes, the MEC is uniquely positioned to facilitate this progress to strengthen the College's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Our Approach
The MEC will use an evidence-based, data-driven, high-touch approach to design high-impact practices and student-centered support programming for our Black male students' unique needs as we foster a stronger sense of trust and belonging from their first days on campus, through program completion, and into career placement. The center will use an inclusive excellence framework divided into five tier categories.:
- Peer Mentoring and Coaching
- MEC Supports and Stewardship
- Culturally Relevant Programming
- Leadership Development through our Leadership & Legacy U.
- Industry and Community Networking
