What is the #RealCollege survey?
The #RealCollege survey was developed by Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab at the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice at Temple University (hope4college.com). This survey attempts to capture the extent to which community and technical college students struggle with basic needs, preventing them from completing their education and improving their economic standing.
Why are we doing the #RealCollege survey?
Clover Park knows its students struggle to maintain a place to live and food to eat, which is why we have invested in a broad set of initiatives including launching personal hygiene and food pantries, partnering with mobile food banks, and developing resource guides to refer students to community organizations who can help with housing. However, it is crucial we understand the depth of need and the intersection of different needs on campus.
How do we administer the #RealCollege survey?
The survey is sent to students via email from the President and a reminder is displayed on Canvas when they log in. Through a grant from the State Board, we were able to offer 10 $100 gift cards to students who participated, in order to compensate them for their valuable time.
