Classroom and Office Conduct
It is the responsibility of the student to read and understand the Clover Park Technical College Student Code of Conduct. WFD Eligibility office will follow guidelines in the Student Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook as applicable to maintain a professional and constructive environment in the office.
CPTC instructors have the authority to take whatever summary actions may be necessary to maintain order and proper conduct in the classroom and to maintain the effective cooperation of the class fulfilling the objectives of the course. Any student who creates a disruption that makes unreasonably difficult to maintain the learning and teaching environment or decorum of a class or activity may be suspended by the instructor from the class or activity for each day of disruption (CPTC Student Handbook).
WFD Eligibility office requires all students to maintain a professional attitude and proper conduct when visiting this office; whether requesting funding assistance, asking general questions, completing intake paperwork, etc. Any student who creates a disruption or makes it unreasonably difficult to maintain a professional environment in this office will be asked to leave the office for the day or will be escorted out of the office by security.
Dishonesty
As per CPTC policy, dishonesty is prohibited.
WFD students may be required to complete weekly or monthly progress forms, request funding assistance, and provide documentation to receive services through the WFD Eligibility office. Students who falsify any information on any of these forms may be asked to resubmit their forms, maybe closed out or referred back to DSHS (as applicable), and/or funding assistance may be suspended for a determined amount of time set by the Workforce Development Eligibility Programs Manager and/or Director of Workforce Development.
Prohibited student conduct (p 140)
- Academic dishonesty - cheating, plagiarism, fabrication of documents.
- Other Dishonesty - forgery, alteration, submission of falsified documents. • Obstruction or disruption – disruption of any operation on college campus; meeting, classes, offices.
- Assault, abuse, intimidation - bullying, stalking, and reckless conduct.
- Cyber misconduct - cyberstalking, cyberbullying.
- Property violations – damage to, theft, misuse, etc.
- Failure to comply with directive – failure to comply with the direction of college official or employee.
- Weapons, hazing, alcohol, marijuana, drugs, etc.
- Lewd conduct and sexual misconduct.
- Harassment and retaliation
WFD Eligibility Disciplinary Sanctions
The following disciplinary sanctions may be imposed upon students found to have violated the student conduct code:
Student disruption in the WFD Eligibility office:
- Angry outburst, aggressive gestures, profanity, etc.
- Attempt to de-escalate: Staff will verbally request the student to continue their conversation in a professional manner.
Disciplinary warning (p. 146) – an oral statement to a student that there is a violation and that any further violation may be cause for further disciplinary action.
- Staff will tell the student that they are receiving a disciplinary warning (per definition stated above) and ask the student to leave the office for at least 24-hours.
- If the student is not compliant, continues to be disruptive, and/or refuses to leave the office, staff will contact security immediately.
Although verbal, the student conduct officer should make a record of the warning. The respondent cannot appeal a disciplinary warning.
Students may take the opportunity to meet with the WFD Eligibility Programs Manager or Director of Workforce Development to appeal their case and determine if there is reasonable cause and seek other resolutions.
WFD Eligibility will follow the disciplinary actions created by the college.
Appeal Process:
WFD students may request an appeal for decisions determined through the Student Conduct policies by providing supporting documentation to have their status reviewed by the WFD Eligibility Programs Manager or Director of Workforce Development for final decision.
