Student WiFi

We recently updated our campus WiFi network with newer, faster equipment. Below are instructions for accessing the new network.

Student WiFi Account Activation

  1. You must go to the Learning Resource Center Computer Lab (building 15) to activate your account. Your Wi-Fi account cannot be created by phone or online. A Computer Tech will assist you in setting up your account during open hours, Monday – Friday. Wi-Fi accounts cannot be established during the weekend.
  2. Username
    1. Your username is composed of your last name (in lowercase letters) as recorded in the Registrar's office, and the last four digits of your CPTC Student ID number (not your social security number).
  3. You will be asked to create a password for your account. Please remember your password as we cannot retrieve it for you. If you forget your password you will need to return to the Computer Lab to have it reset by a Computer Tech.
  4. Your password will expire every 120 days.

Password Requirements

  • Passwords must be a minimum of 10 characters in length.
  • Passwords must contain at least one character from three of the following categories:
    • Uppercase characters
    • Lowercase characters
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphanumeric characters:    ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/
  • Passwords may not contain your user name as a word, although letters from your name are allowed.

Connecting to the Student WiFi Network

  1. In your WiFi network management area on your device, connect to the “Student” network.
  2. If you are prompted to enter a username and password, enter the username and password you created in the above steps.
  3. If you are not prompted to enter a username and password, then open your internet browser.
  4. Your browser should be redirected to the Aruba WiFi login page.
  5. Enter your WiFi account credentials, just like step 2 above.
  6. You should now be able to access the internet.

If you get a certificate security warning, please make sure you continue to the website and allow the exception. If you don’t, your device may block access to our WiFi network.
