Testing Center

The testing center will be closed on Friday, August 23rd and Friday, August 30th. Testing and proctoring services will not be available on these dates.

Welcome to the Testing Center. We offer a variety of tests for CPTC students and community members.

Testing Center Guidelines

  • For all tests, photo identification is required. No exceptions will be made.
  • Testers are prohibited from bringing in any personal belongings (cell phones, bags, watches, wallets, electronic devices, keys, coats, hats, food, beverages, etc.) into the testing area. A locked bag will be provided for testers during check-in.
  • Please do not bring children with you during testing. Children cannot be left unattended on the college campus.
  • Please plan to arrive with sufficient time to complete testing before the Testing Center closes.

What tests are offered at the Testing Center?

ACCUPLACER

The ACCUPLACER is a test used for placement into academic courses required for certificate and degree programs at CPTC. This is not a pass or fail test. Prior to taking the ACCUPLACER, students must meet with an Entry Services Specialist or Advisor to determine if they can receive placement through Multiple Measures.

  • Testing content includes reading and math.
  • The test is computerized and untimed, but most testers need 1.5 hours to complete the test.
  • No appointments are needed. (We recommend coming in before 2PM for sufficient time to complete the test before the testing center closes.)
  • There is no cost for the first 2 tries for CPTC students. Non-CPTC testers and students who are retaking their test for the third time must pay a $19 non-refundable fee to the Cashier.
  • Testers must present a CPTC student ID number and photo ID.
  • Testers must wait one day prior to retesting.
  • ACCUPLACER Practice Test
  • ACCUPLACER Sample Questions

Disability Accommodations

Students who are interested in requesting accommodations for the ACCUPLACER test must contact the Disability Services Manager at 253-589-5767 prior to testing. Documentation will be required.

General Education Development (GED)

We are a Pearson VUE authorized testing center, and we provide GED testing for those who wish to earn their GED certificate.

  • The GED exam consists of 4 tests: Reasoning through Language Arts (150 min), Social Studies (70 min), Mathematics (115 min), and Science (90 minutes).
  • Each test costs $30 with a total of $120 for all four tests.
  • Appointments are scheduled directly through the GED company either online (www.ged.com) or by phone (1-877-392-6433).
  • At the time of testing, testers must provide current government-issue photo identification with their name, address, birth date and signature on it. (If your photo identification does not indicate that you have been in Washington for longer than 30 days, then you will need to bring additional documentation showing proof of residency.) Expired or invalid identification will not be accepted.

Approval to Test Form

If you are under the age of 19 and have not yet graduated from high school, you will need to submit a “Request for Approval to Test” form. Contact your high school or school district office to complete this form, and drop off the signed form to any GED testing center for approval. You will not be able to complete your test registration until this form has been recorded by the testing center.

Nursing Pre-Admission (PAX)

The PAX Admission test administered through the National League for Nursing (NLN) is designated for students applying to CPTC’s Practical Nursing program.

  • The PAX consists of 3 sections (40 mins each): Verbal, Mathematics, and Science. · Appointments are scheduled online through www.nlnonlinetesting.org.
  • The total cost is $50 ($40 to the NLN and $10 to CPTC).
  • On the day of the exam, testers must bring the following check-in materials:
A print-out of the NLN Exam appointment confirmation
    Valid photo identification
    CPTC student ID number
    NLN Account username and password
$10.00 for the additional testing site fee
  • Testers must first visit the Cashier (Bldg 17 Rm 107) and pay the $10.00 additional fee, and then check in at the Testing Center (Bldg 17 Rm 250) with a copy of their receipt on their exam day.
  • CPTC’s Nursing program requires a composite score of 102 or higher.
  • The test scores will be available 4 hours after completing the exam. There are no limits to the number of times testers can take the PAX.

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification

We are authorized through Prometric to administer testing for ASE certifications. Testers must first register online through www.ase.com and then contact 253-589-6035 to schedule an appointment with CPTC’s Testing Center. Testers must provide their ASE eligibility ID number in order to schedule an appointment.

Ability to Benefit
